Let Your Light Shine

Rockstar day!

Today we relaunches TimesTable Rockstars! Your child has been given their login details for the website so that they can practise at home and become true TIMES TABLE ROCKSTARS!

We all had a fantastic day. Take a look!

Take a look at these exciting creative book reports that Oliver and Leon shared with use today. When your child has finished a book, why not make a creative book report together for them to share with our class?

We have finished our class reader 'Wonder'. This book is about a young boy with a facial abnormality learning to navigate his first year of middle school. It is a story about friendship, bravery and above all kindness. We made a creative book report of a scrapbook; the designs are so imaginative and creative! I am so impressed. Take a look:

Creative topic homework

Check out these incredible creative topic homework pieces that our class have presented this week:

Creative Topic Homework

This term, our topics are Space and the USA. Each child should, over the course of the term, make a creative topic homework on either the USA or space (our solar system). These projects can be in almost any form, for example:

  • PowerPoint presentation
  • Poster
  • Model/diarama
  • Video

The choice is yours! Creative topic homework can be brought to school at any point before the end of term, and will be shared and celebrated as a class on Friday afternoons. Take a look at these examples for inspiration:

Explore the eight planets in the solar system along with the sun, moon, asteroids, meteors, comets, and stars with this engaging circle book! It can be used during science for research projects or centers! $See the source imageSee the source image 5th Grade Wit and Whimsy: Native American Museum Research Project

This week we have been learning all about forces. We conducted and EGGSPERIMENT to test the relationship between surface area and air resistance. The objective was to build a capsule for an eggy astronaut with a parachute large enough to slow the descent of the egg enough to ensure it had a soft-boiled landing. As you can imagine, it got messy! Take a look at our designs:

This week we have been building our rainforest models in design and technology. The children worked so well in their teams and have made some fantastic models! Take a look at the pictures:

Welcome back to school and to our brand new school jotter page! On this page, we will share news about what has been happening in the classroom and we will also tell you about any upcoming events.

Your children have made a fantastic start to the new year, and I have been so impressed by their love of learning and enthusiasm in the classroom. We have lots of fun together!

This term, our topic is going to be about Rainforests so if the children would like, they can make a creative topic homework this term (this could be a video, PowerPoint presentation, 3D model or a poster). Once they have made it, please bring I to school so we can celebrate their learning and creativity.

Don't forget that on every Thursday the children will need to come dressed in PE kits ready for their lesson on a Thursday afternoon.

It's going to be an exciting year and we are very much looking forward to it.

Take care

Miss Mackell, Mrs Cratchley and Mrs Bestwick
