Y3SBr - Collective Worship
18 November 2021 (by Suzanne Britch (suzanne.britch))
As an end to our RE topic on Baptism, the children planned and delivered a lovely collective worship. They thought carefully about how we should gather, choosing to sit in a circle since God’s love is everlasting. For our focal point, they chose to have the Bible because we can learn from the Word of God, a candle to represent the light of Jesus, a plant to show how we can grow into someone beautiful, a white piece of paper representing a new life and a bowl of water symbolizing a new beginning. They chose to read the scripture about Jesus being baptised. In teams, they wrote some thoughtful prayers reflecting on this reading. As they read them out, we responded with ‘God please hear us, we love you’. Whilst listening to some music, the children wrote down ways in which they can follow Jesus’ footsteps and let their lights shine. Our mission is to make a promise on how we can be like God every day. The children had some fabulous ideas, what a lovely way to end the topic!
