Today we have looked at our new spelling investigation. 'All words that end in 'y' when pluralised, end in 'ies'.

We discussed what plurals are (more than one) and talked about when we should just add an 's' and when we should change the 'y' to an 'i' and add 'es'.

We discovered that if a word has a vowel (a,e,i,o,u) before the 'y' in the word then we just add an 's' but if a word has a consonant before the 'y' in the word, then we remove the 'y' and change it to an 'i' and add 'es'.

Try to make some of these words into plurals: donkey, fly, activity, chimney, key, penny, bully, birthday.
